How Schengen visa appointments work
Most Schengen visa applications are not submitted directly at the embassy. They go through authorised visa application centres. Here is how to navigate the process.

Embassy vs visa application centre
Embassy / consulate
Direct application through the consular section. Some smaller Schengen countries use this route. The embassy is always the decision-making authority.
Visa application centre (VAC)
Third-party centres authorised by embassies to collect documents and biometrics. Common providers: VFS Global, TLScontact, BLS International. The visa decision is still made by the consulate.

tlscontact.comManages appointments for France and Switzerland, among others. Common provider in Turkey and across the Middle East and North Africa.
BLS International
blsinternational.comPrimary provider for Spain and some other Schengen countries in certain regions. Check official embassy websites for your specific country.
Embassy / Consulate
Some Schengen countries require direct appointment with the embassy or consulate. Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, and others often use this channel.
The provider for your destination country and your location can change. Always check the official embassy website for the current authorised provider.
Why appointment availability changes
Appointment slots are released in batches, cancelled and rebooked frequently, and vary by season. Summer and holiday periods are consistently high-demand. Some countries experience extremely limited slot availability for months at a time. This is outside Passula's control and outside the control of any third party.
Tips for booking your appointment
- Check the official embassy or consulate website first — they list the correct provider for your location.
- Appointment slots are released at varying intervals. Check regularly, especially for high-demand periods.
- Some providers offer email or SMS alerts when new slots become available.
- Apply as early as possible. Applications can be submitted up to 6 months before travel.
- Do not apply earlier than 6 months before your intended travel date.
- Prepare all documents before booking — some providers check completeness at submission.
Avoid unofficial appointment sellers
- Unofficial appointment sellers charge fees for slots they do not control — many are scams.
- Never pay for an "appointment guarantee" from unofficial sources.
- Appointment availability is managed entirely by official providers. No third party can guarantee a slot.
- If an agent claims to guarantee an appointment, that claim is not credible.
Always book through the official provider website only. Check the embassy website for the correct link.
How to verify official sources

- 3Navigate directly to the provider's domain (e.g. vfsvisaservices.com, tlscontact.com, blsinternational.com).
- 4Never follow links from unofficial sources, social media, or third-party agents.
- 5If in doubt, call the embassy directly.
